Your Color Box

We frequently hear the saying, “Think outside the box.” I’m going to take a moment and encourage you to think inside your box.

Stand up straight and tall, and extend your arms as wide as you can—that’s your box. Your box is never full, so keep adding to it. Working or quilting outside your box is good—particularly if you’ve been working inside your box for a while, know what it looks like, and need some perspective. It is a way of stretching and growing.

Quilting, particularly machine quilting, is a big box to explore. When it comes to color, we like to go for the big box of thread; sometimes though, simplicity is best, actually giving us more freedom to explore.
